Update

Since my last update, this is what I've been doing....

I've asked Nova is she would be my Art Director, and she accepted. Nova and I had a meeting talking about the script, the feel of the story, and now her job is to calculate what we'll need to make the setting look as authentic as possible. I've set up a production meeting for March 13th and there she'll be telling the crew what she has not yet acquired and what she'll need from us.

I've also secured a stylist for the shoot, Noma. She's a personal stylist and a scriptwriter herself. Her and I have been discussing what's the best economical way to dress the actors. I've told her in the past when I have my rehearsal with the actors, I discuss with them what I would like them to look like. They bring the main articles of clothes while I provide the essentials to make them look fitting for their character.

I also had a meeting with my Assistant Director and Camera Operator, Jorna and Jazmin. I like to tell my keys up front my expectations I have of them, and also make sure they know that this is a collabrator project. I also have deadlines to meet with them and once we are on the same track, we'll dive more deeply into the creative process.

For instance, for Jorna AD, I will need to have my shooting schedule, shot list, and cliff notes with mood and emotion for each scene. So she will be prepared the weekend of the shoot. Jazmin, Cam OP, I will need for her to see my storyboards, from there we'll discuss framing, lenses for the camera, and lighting set up.

Edwin, my gaffer, we've been discussing what kind of lights that I will need as well as the other equipment that will make FALL FOR ME, look and feel like you are apart of the story.

Today, I will be finishing up my budget, shot-list, and hopefully get to my storyboards so I can start discussing the next faze. April 8th will be right around the corner!

The Proposal

Hi Paula,

First I would like to say Thank you giving me the opportunity to explore my craft further in the art of video, whether it be narrative or experimental.  And this will also help me get that much closer to graduation!

As discussed, in order for me to receive full credit for the Upper Division Studio requirement, I'm attaching the project proposal for my digital narrative short "Fall For Me." A touching story of an old man, too stubborn and grouchy to leave his apartment, falls in love with a woman he sees outside his window.

Script is roughly 71/2 pages long ~ 7.5 minutes is the projected total running time.

At this time I've workshop my script with fellow classmates and writers, and most of my crew are on board. I'm looking at locations this Sunday and Edwin, my grip, and I are having conversations about the lighting.

And this is the schedule to complete the project by the end of the school year.
